The City Council thanks the neighbors for the increase in recycling with the "Victoria de Todos" campaign (17/05/2018)

The Councilors of Public Services, María Dolores Ruiz and the Councilor for Environment, Antonio Martínez today presented the campaign "Victory of All" in the municipal ecopark of San Javier, coinciding with the World Day of Recycling "to highlight the commitment of the neighbors with recycling. "

Coinciding with a visit to the ecopark of a group of students of CEIP "Severo Ochoa" of San Javier, the mayor of Public Services presented the campaign consisting of a set of posters with colorful trophies, medals and cups drawn with recyclable waste, and data statistics that place the municipality in the outpost of regional recycling.

María Dolores Martínez reported that the collection of plastic grew in 2016 by 14% with a total of 304,000 kilos collected.

The paper and cardboard destined for recycling in the municipality amounted to 415,000 kilos, 13% more than the previous year, and 2.5 points above the regional average.

The glass exceeds 900,000 kilos with an increase in summer of 7% that motivated an award granted by Ecovidrio.

The collection of clothing, footwear and used toys, increased by 31% in 2016. The increasing recycling figures in the municipality have resulted in a reimbursement of 80,000 euros, "the equivalent of updating three playgrounds," said the edil María Dolores Ruiz who pointed out the greater awareness of society with recycling and the importance of working in this regard with the smallest.

María Dolores Ruiz also highlighted the effort made by the City Council with the implementation of a new contract for the collection of waste in San Javier since 2014 and its service "Pass it to Clean", which has led to the provision of 1,180 public roads containers for organic waste and 120 clean points with containers for glass, paper, plastic, batteries and those of Project Abraham for clothes, footwear and toys.

There are also two fixed ecoparks, which add other waste such as oil, electrical and electronic equipment, as well as pruning, wood and hazardous waste.

A third mobile eco-park does the same with fixed weekly routes throughout the municipality, not forgetting the collection at home of household goods, as well as paper and cardboard for shops.

María Dolores Ruiz highlighted the periodic campaigns to promote recycling that are carried out through the service "Pass it to Clean" of informative and formative tone both at a general level and in schools, institutes, and specific groups.

He also highlighted the contribution to good figures for recycling in the municipality of the Green Line service, which allows citizens to report any incident from their phone, obtaining an almost immediate response.

According to the councilor, 88% of the 5,339 incidents reported have already been resolved, which contributes to the improvement of the service to the neighbors.
