Vonda Shepard and Pepe Bao open the XXI Edition of the San Javier Jazz Festival 2018 (29/06/2018)

The pianist, composer and American singer, Vonda Shepard will close the first night of the Jazz Festival of San Javier, where she will offer a concert for nostalgia with the great successes of her career, many of them linked to the soundtrack of the television series "Ally McBeal", to which he put music and voice.

Successes like "Tell him", "I only want to be with you", or "Searchin 'My Soul", among many others will sound on Vonda Shepard's return to San Javier where eight years ago he gave a brilliant concert in the series "Música del Alma "that ended up being part of his discography, immortalized in the album" From the Sun-Live in San Javier "(2010)

The winner of two Golden Globes and two Emmy Awards, which has sold more than 12 million records worldwide, has a successful career since she began playing at clubs in Los Angeles when she was 14, where she grew up after her move with your family from New York.

Rickie Lee Jones recruited her for his band with 20 years as keyboardist and singer.

Vonda Shepard, who also surprised critics as an actress in the musical "Fausto" by Randy Newman, has resumed her compositions and her taste for live shows with periodic tours such as the one that brings her back to San Javier accompanied, this time , by James Ralston on guitars, Jim Hanson on bass and Christopher Hafer on drums.

The first chords of the current edition of the Jazz Festival of San Javier 2018 will be played by Pepe Bao, one of the most important names in the history of modern electric bass in Spain.

Accompanied by an exceptional band of musicians, Pepe Bao will present his recent album "Andebass" (2018) in which he includes his own compositions and very personal versions, in the field of flamenco, jazz and rock, of classics such as "Goodbye pork Pie Hat" of Charlie Mingus, by bulerías, or the "Nothing else" of Metallica by guajiras, and their own songs such as "Andebass" that gives the album its name, plus a selection of songs from its long career.

With a long musical career in a wide variety of styles, Pepe Bao is an institution and reference for a whole generation of bassists in Spain, who follow in his footsteps since he founded the Sevillian band O'Funkillo.

The winner of several awards that accredit him as the best Spanish bass player or the Cante de las Minas Festival in 2013 as the best flamenco instrumentalist, has collaborated with Raimundo Amador, El Barrio, Triana, Tomasito or more recently with Juanito Makandé, among many others.

Bands like Obús, Barón Rojo or Medina Azahara have counted on Pepe Bao who has also shared the stage with international artists such as BB King or Marcus Miller.

In Jazz San Javier he will be accompanied by Jorge Vera on piano, Jaco Abel on electric guitar, Joselín Vargas on percussion and cante, and Miguel Lamas on drums, plus three surprise guests, at a very special concert, conceived for the opening of the XXI edition of Jazz San Javier
