The murcian painter Fulgencio Saura Mira dedicates his new exhibition, "Reflejos", to the Mar Menor (04/07/2018)

The Mar Menor stars in the new exhibition of the painter Fulgencio Saura Mira that can be seen in the Museum of San Javier until September 15.

Under the title "Reflejos" the show evidences a turn of the screw in the work of Saura Mira who is shown as an impressionist painter with winks, even to abstraction.

"The abstraction that I never understood, now I have come to intuit through the Mar Menor," says the painter who has searched with daring strokes the reflections that sparkle in the lagoon, away from the Murcian baroque costumbrismo that has characterized much of his work .

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, the general director of Environment and Mar Menor, Antonio Luengo, the mayor of Culture, David Martínez, the painter and the curator of the exhibition, Elisa Franco presented this morning the exhibition in the same room where the final touches are given for the public opening that will take place on Friday, July 6 at 8pm.

The general direction of the Mar Menor and the general direction of Cultural Assets collaborate with the City of San Javier in this exhibition "that we understand as a stimulus, a new way of involving people with the Mar Menor, both in its cultural values and in his integral recovery, "said the mayor of San Javier.

The exhibition includes 40 watercolors and oil paintings dedicated to the Mar Menor, in a different format, and a series of some 40 small-format paintings in which Saura Mira sets its sights on the municipality of San Javier, among which there is no shortage of easily recognizable landscapes and architectures .

Elisa Franco, director of the Museum San Juan de Dios, Murcia, and curator of this exhibition warns "of the radical turn that the Mar Menor has produced in the way of painting of Saura Mira" infected with light, colors, transparencies, and the joy of the Mar Menor that translates into Impressionist traces ", away from the exhibition that opened last November with tradition and costumbrismo as the central axis.

The general director of the Mar Menor, Antonio Luengo pointed out the efforts that are being made for the recovery of the Mar Menor and the signs of improvement that are being experienced "but something more is needed, we must transmit the culture of the Mar Menor, one of the seven natural wonders of the Region of Murcia ".

Luengo stressed the importance of this type of actions and "the new optics and energy that transmits the exhibition to us to continue working for the Mar Menor".

The mayor of Culture David Martinez thanked the presence of Fulgencio Saura Look this summer in San Javier through an exhibition that "will be one of the most important cultural events of the summer for the Mar Menor and the Region of Murcia."
