Sanjaviereños Juan Manuel Griñán and Miguel Madrid have managed to finish one of the toughest trail races in the world, the Euforia dels Cims 2018, in Andorra, a 233km mountain race and 2000 more ascents.
The route ascends to five peaks above 2,900 meters and another 32 peaks or hills between 2,500 and 2,900 meters.
With almost no Spanish presence, only 36 couples managed to successfully complete this feat that Juan Manuel and Miguel managed to finish in 109 hours with a particularly harsh weather, which included rain, hail and thunderstorm.
The privilege of the landscape, like that of some peaks that allow 360 ° views over the Spanish and French Pyrenees, exerts a stimulus in this test of semi-self-sufficiency, which for safety, can only be carried out in pairs, and that forces participants to be self-sufficient for periods of between 12 and 20 hours, with four unique refreshment stations, separated by 50kms, on a route that is not marked and that participants must follow with their own tools.
The hardness of the Euforia dels Cims forces participants to show that they have either finished this same race successfully in previous editions, as was the case of Juan Manuel Griñán who achieved it in 2015 and 2016, or to justify finishing a race of 150km with more than 7000m D + or by stages of more than 200km with more than 7000m D +.
Having made a summit on Everest, he gave Miguel Madrid a direct passport that accumulates a long experience in this type of tests.
Together they have managed to finish what is undoubtedly one of the hardest and most spectacular trail races in the world.
