The library of San Javier chooses "El dolor de los otros" by Miguel Ãngel Hernández for the project "One city, one book" (19/09/2018)

The book "The pain of others" by the Murcian author Miguel Ángel Hernández has been the chosen work for a new edition of the project "A city, a book", through which the municipal library of San Javier, encourages the neighbors to read the same book with a double literary and social objective.

The councilman of Culture, David Martinez and the head of municipal libraries, Toni Díaz, today encouraged the residents of the municipality to read the book that tells the experience lived by the author when his best friend killed his sister by committing suicide later in a parish of the huerta of Murcia where they both lived in the 90s.

Edited by Anagrama, the work, champion of the "autoficción", has become a success of criticism and public for this professor of Art History at the University of Murcia that will culminate this collective project in a meeting with its readers during the next spring in San Javier.

The proposal "A city, a book" is part of the programming of the municipal library for the coming months of autumn that was unveiled this morning with more than 30 free activities aimed at all ages.

Talks, book presentations, bilingual storytelling, and cinema articulate a program that, in addition to encouraging reading, also invites you to write two micro-story contests, one on Alzheimer's and another on an alternative ending to "Don Juan Tenorio", coinciding with the performance of "Don Juan Tenorio, Dream and reality in the cemetery of San Javier", at the end of October.

The success so far achieved by the bilingual storytellers guarantees its continuity, one Saturday a month, with classic titles represented by professional actors from Arena Teatro.

In December a storyteller with Christmas themed puppets will be added.

The cinema, which is increasingly present in the library's offer, will have a "Decadent Cinema" series on alternate Saturdays.

There will also be a cycle of "Family Cinema with Popcorn", in December, in addition to the CineForum of the Reading Club.

The program of talks, many of which are offered by users of the library, will address topics such as biodanza, abusive rents, the keys to recovering wellbeing, or the metamorphosis of the Mar Menor riverbank.

The writings of Jesús Tíscar will present his book "Yo señor, no soy malo", in November, and the author of children's literature Meggy Vanuls will give a multimedia and dramatized presentation of her book "Respetina y la fodura de los focios", in December, when the book "Twenty wagons to bite" will also be presented with the presence of its authors.
