The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo highlighted "the great work" being developed by Proyecto Hombre Murcia in the municipality of San Javier during the renewal of the collaboration agreement maintained by the City of San Javier with the non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of addictions.
Its president, Tomás Zamora, accompanied by the director Asunción Santos, signed the renewal of the agreement that will involve the municipal contribution of 10,000 euros to Proyecto Hombre Murcia for the development of an action program that includes work prevention, counseling and a service direct in the municipality.
The service of direct attention in San Javier Project Male Murcia has served in its first year to 18 people, 12 young people up to 21 years, and 6 adults with substance addiction problems, especially cannabis, abuse of New Technologies and play with bets.
Of the 18 people served in a personalized manner, 14 of them were referred to specific programs of the entity in the city of Murcia, according to their director Asunción Santos.
This service, designed for young people and families, which also receives adults, deals with any topic related to the use of substances as risk factors of adolescence, problems of relationship with the family, changes in the behavior of children or difficulties in the academic environment, among other problems.
Users can access both by referral from another institution or by private initiative.
The Councilor for Social Services and Youth, Estíbaliz Masegosa, present at the event, recalled that Proyecto Hombre Murcia works in the municipality in a coordinated manner with Social Services, in the referral and monitoring of users.
Masegosa recalled that in addition to direct attention, Proyecto Hombre carries out various information and advice actions with City Council professionals and community agents, as well as school prevention programs and parent workshops for families.
The president of Proyecto Hombre, Tomás Zamora, stressed the importance of working in prevention especially among young people where addictions to New Technologies proliferate, games and bets, which already compete with addictions to certain substances.
The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo was willing to continue supporting and promoting the work of Proyecto Hombre Murcia in the municipality and advocated a regional structure, with the involvement of the rest of town halls, to continue advancing both in prevention and care and rehabilitation of people, young and adult, affected by an addiction.
