The municipal budget for 2019 grows 2.8 million euros and reaches 47.2 million (18/12/2018)

The budget presented today by the mayor of Finance, Carlos Albaladejo, pending approval by the Plenary, "consolidates the reduction of taxes in the municipality" freezing the tax burden, and allocates 1.9 million to investments

The Councilor for Finance Carlos Albaladejo presented the Municipal Budget for 2019, which the Government team will submit to the Plenary of the municipal corporation on Thursday, December 20, for a total of 47,270,696.09 euros, which represents an increase in 2.8 million euros compared to the 2018 budget, "following the upward trend of the last four years with an increase of 8 million in that period in which at the same time the highest tax reduction in the municipality has been undertaken".

In the investments of 1,950,000 euros provided for in the Budget presented today highlights the construction of a football field in Santiago de la Ribera amounting to 718,875 euros, with a grant from the Autonomous Community of 200,000 euros, the purchase of a plot, rented so far, in the fairground for 112,000 euros, remodeling of the Pozo Aledo square, donated by the bishopric for 200,000 euros, paving, construction of new parks and gardens for 50,000 euros, as well as municipal items for works such as remodeling of the Municipal Museum, the works of the EDUSI Strategy in the Almansa Park, which include the closed theater, and others of improvement in the telematic management of several municipal services, or the improvement in the energy efficiency amounting to 600,000 euros, of which the City Council will contribute 120,000 euros, with a grant from European funds.

Albaladejo recalled that investments expected in 2019 are added from last surplus, which will be used for paving and public works, as well as those of the Autonomous Community of Murcia as the split in the link of the AP 7 with the crossing of the shopping centers, the remodeling of the Miguel Ángel Blanco avenue, the construction of a storm tank in the Castillicos area, the expansion of the Mar Menor IES, whose project is being drafted, and the driving works of the avenues in the Macodesa rambla that affect the IES Mar Menor area, among others.

The councilman of Finance stressed that the municipal accounts for 2019 consolidate the reduction of taxes that was approved in 2016, since it freezes the price of taxes and fees and waives the collection of garbage tax.

Albaladejo explained that "despite the tax cuts the budget makes a great investment effort in improving public services and the quality of life of the residents in the municipality."

He explained that along with the 1.9 million euros in investments, the budget allocates 21 million in goods and services, with significant improvements in contracts and increasing items of social spending, Culture or Education at the same time that the debt is reduced at 1.8 million euros.

In the chapter on expenses, the largest item of 21 million euros corresponds to current expenditures on goods and services with contracts such as Security, which includes ambulances, of 1.1 million euros, lifeguard and beach safety for 1 , 2 million or the maintenance of parks and gardens, already awarded for 700,000 euros.

It also increases by 30,000 euros to 70,000 euros for investments in educational centers or 100,000 pavements, among others, as a game of 800,000 euros in grants to associations and charities, charities and social, non-profit of the municipality, to which the AECC is incorporated.

The Personal chapter is increased 1 million euros to 19.8 million, due to the total restoration of the rights lost by workers during the crisis as the recovery of 35 hours per week, without increasing the workforce, explained the mayor of Finance.

Matches like the one of Culture increase significantly like the game of activities that goes from 40,000 to 80,000 euros, as well as that of the festivals that also grow like the one of Theater, Music and Dance that increases in 50,000 euros on the occasion of the celebration of its 50th anniversary in 2019.

Short-term debt stands at 10 days of payment to suppliers according to data from the last quarter and long-term debt will be reduced by 1.8 million, explained Carlos Albaladejo who added that despite applying for a loan of 1, 8 million euros to finance investments, "the budget foresees the expected amortizations going from 13 million euros at the beginning of the year to 11.2 at the end of 2019

The income chapter is fed by taxes, fees, transfers and patrimonial income highlighting the two million euros agreed with Hidrogea for the arrears in the payment of the annual fee and the 233,000 corresponding to 2019, which in total represents 96% of the income, which is completed with a loan of 1.8 million euros.

Carlos Albaladejo said that "the government team continues to strive to reach agreements with municipal political groups that have made realistic proposals that add up in budgets that allow the municipality to continue to grow and improve the quality of life of the residents" in the face of presentation of the municipal accounts in the plenary to be held next Thursday for voting.
