The San Blas Pilgrimage celebrates its 40th anniversary with a festive program from February 1 to 3 (25/01/2019)

The Pilgrimage of San Blas, as it is celebrated today, turns 40 and will celebrate with an intense holiday weekend, from February 1 to 3, whose program was announced today by the Councilman of Celebrations, Pedro López accompanied by the mayoress of Santiago de la Ribera, Julia Gallut and two representatives of the festival commission.

Josefina Escudero together with a group of neighbors of Santiago de la Ribera were commissioned, 40 years ago, to start the Pilgrimage of San Blas, to promote a tradition of centuries, which years later would get the declaration of Regional Tourist Interest, recalled María Carmen Teruel, who intends to recover the San Blas Anthem that was then created with lyrics by Andres Ballot and music by Jaime González, to celebrate the anniversary.

The mayor of Festejos, Pedro López presented the program of events that will begin on the night of Friday, February 1 at 9pm with a pre-San Blas evening, with a mobile disk in the pine forest of San Blas.

On Saturday February 2 will be celebrated the Day of Migas, a day of coexistence in which no one will be left without eating with giant crumbs that will be served at 2:30 p.m.

The music will be put by several groups invited to the BlasRock 2019 that will start playing from 12 noon.

At 4:30 p.m. there will be the Flower Offering at the chapel, located next to the pine forest, where the night will end with the Powerband group concert starting at 9:00 p.m.

On Sunday, February 3, the feast of San Blas, the Pilgrimage will depart from the church of Santiago de la Ribera at 10:30 am to the chapel in the area of ​​San Blas, entertained by the group Choirs and Dances Mar Menor, San Javier .

On arrival at the chapel there will be a Huertana Mass sung by Rondalla and Santiago Apóstol Choir, at the end of which the plaque will be delivered as Romero de Año to Antonio Francisco Carrasco, "Comino", in recognition of his work at the head of the Brotherhood of Santiago and San Blas and in favor of this festival, which every year attracts thousands of visitors from all over the Region and neighboring provinces.

The Conservatory of Music of San Javier will offer a concert with a message in full pinewood, "Concert Ecosound", which has had the collaboration of the General Directorate of Environment, at 12:30 pm.

There will not be a lack of the giant paella, or the world championship of the launching of sweets of San Blas with the mouth, that celebrates its 5th edition.

The youngest children will have an enclosure with Children's Games in the afternoon until 6:30 pm when the end of the party will sound.

The fair and the booths with the typical sweets and "sanblases" will set the environment of the pine forest where the rocks are installed all the day throughout the weekend.
