Jazz San Javier reaches its seventh day with Jazzmeia Horn, the great revelation of the new vocal Jazz (12/07/2019)

Jazzmeia Horn has been said to be the future of jazz and the great jazz singer Jon Hendricks said he has one of the best voices he had heard in 40 years.

The truth is that Jazzmeia has earned a gold position in the current vocal jazz at age 26 with a first album "A Social Call" published in 2017 with the Prestige label, which has earned him his first nomination for the Grammy Awards 2018 From a family dedicated to gospel in Dallas, Texas, Jazzmeia Horn has won the most prestigious awards in the world such as the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Competition in 2013 and the Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Competition in 2015.

The young promise, which has been compared to own Sara Vaughan, Betty Carter and Nancy Wilson, confirmed her talent as a vocalist and composer with a brilliant career performing in the most prestigious festivals and jazz clubs.

With his first album "A Social Call", Jazzmeia demonstrates that he dominates vocal jazz performing classics such as "Tight" by Betty Carter, his great musical influence, which borrows the name of the album that Carter recorded in 1955, and with the that also alludes to its social and political commitment.

Jazzmeia Horn will be accompanied by Keith Brown on piano, Rashaan Carter on bass and Anwar Marshall on drums.

The second concert of the night is performed by one of the most iconic musicians of the San Javier Jazz Festival, the saxophonist and composer Bill Evans who, in his four previous visits since 2002, has never ceased to surprise the festival's audience with new proposals, like the one that brings in this occasion with its new group The Spy Killers and its new facet of singer, with which it has pleasantly surprised its followers.

Bill Evans, whose musical beginnings are closely linked to Miles Davis as a member of his band for five years, has a discography of more than 24 albums in which he reflects his universal taste for music, his ability to reinvent himself and present new musical proposals.

The prestigious saxophonist, who has recorded with people as diverse as Mick Jagger, Herbie Hancock or Michel Franks, among others, reappears with The Spy Killers, a band of virtuous musicians such as the spectacular German drummer Wolfgang Haffner, the master of Hammod B3, Simon Oslender and the musician with more groove to electric bass Gary Grainger.

Together, they are willing to break all musical boundaries with their own sound riding between jazz, soul and funk with a powerful staging in a concert that, according to those who have already experienced it, will be hard to forget.
