The Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo and Sports Councilman, Sergio Martinez received today in City Hall the young paddler of the Club Mar Menor Canoeing School, of San Javier, Pablo Francisco Sánchez Palacios who after winning five gold medals in the Championship of Spain of Asturias, is preparing to participate in the Junior World Championship that takes place from 1 to 4 August in Romania.
Pablo Sánchez, aged 16, won five gold and one bronze medals at the Spanish Sprint Olympic Championship held at the Trasona Reservoir in Asturias on July 6 and 7, proclaiming himself Spanish champion at 1,000 meters junior and junior. 17. He also climbed to the top of the podium in 500 meters junior and sub 17 as well as in 200 meters junior, and bronze in 200 meters sub 17.
The results obtained in the national of Asturias have allowed him to represent Spain in the World Cup in Romania that takes place from 1 to 4 August in the city of Pitesti, where he will compete in K1 1000 and K1500 meters in the junior category.
The mayor José Miguel Luengo congratulated Pablo Francisco Sánchez, who started at age 8 in canoeing at the Club of San Javier from where he is one of the great promises of Spanish canoeing, for the results obtained and wished him luck for to be able to repeat triumphs in the next Junior World Championship in Romania.
Pablo Francisco Sánchez now enjoys an excellent moment after an untimely mononucleosis prevented him a year ago from occupying the position he had won with his effort and his results in the Youth Olympic Games that were played in Argentina.
