Jazz San Javier presents the young jazz-soul star Jamison Ross and the prestigious soulman Myles Sanko, together with Vanessa Haynes as a special guest (16/07/2019)

The drummer and singer Jamison Ross, one of the most talented musicians of the new generation of jazz stars, visits for the first time Jazz San Javier where he has generated a great expectation.

Original Jacksonville and settled in New Orleans, where he finished his musical studies, Jamison Ross is a true portent of the drummer and an excellent vocalist, who has received prestigious awards for both artistic facets.

His career took off after he won the Thelonious Monk Jr. International Jazz Competition as a drummer, which allowed him to record with the prestigious Concord Jazz label the two titles of his discography "Jamison" (2015) and "All For One" ( 2018).

Jamison Ross was discovered, then, as a great singer as acknowledged by Down Beat magazine, which awarded him the prize for best male singer among the rising stars of 2018.

Ross, who grew up singing in the church of his grandfather in Florida, contemplates his second album "All For One" as a second part of the first and a test of his evolution as a musician, approaching with his own language versions of songs that go from jazz , R & B, soul or blues among which are "Everybody's Cryin 'Mercy" by Mose Allison, or the one popularized by Etta Jones, in the 60s "Don't Go to Strangers" one of the few jazz standards of his repertoire .

With love as the central theme of his compositions, Jamison Ross devotes to his family some of the songs included in the album as "Unspoke", "Call Me" and "Away".

The second concert of the night will be performed by the British singer Miles Sanko, consolidated as a referent of European soul that returns to Jazz San Javier, where he premiered the songs of his previous album "Just Being Me" in 2016. On this occasion he will also advance some of the themes of her new album, which will not be released until the end of 2019. Born in Ghana, of African mother and French father and settled in England since her adolescence, Myles Sanko declares herself devoted to classical soul and the sound of old school that continues being its main inspiration and to which it contributes the freshness of the current musical context.

Myles Sanko, whose musical origins are in hip hop, soon evolved into soul and later into jazz, a genre in which he feels increasingly comfortable.

On his return to Jazz San Javier will participate in an exclusive project of the Festival with one of the best female voices of European soul, Vanessa Haynes, main voice of the legendary British Jazz band Funk, Incognito.

In a concert, that the lovers of the soul can not be lost, they will interpret together some of the great classics of the genre and several original duets.

With a solo album, "Stay with Me", Vanessa Haynes celebrates eight years of career in which she has worked with Van Morrison with whom she did a one-year tour as a showgirl.

He has also worked and recorded with artists such as Chaka Khan, Billy Ocean or Mario Biondi, among many others.

In their San Javier concert they will be accompanied by a powerful band composed of drums, piano, guitar, bass, sax and trumpet.
