Jazz San Javier receives Ron Carter, living legend of the double bass and his prestigious Foursight Quartet (19/07/2019)

The history of jazz would be incomplete without Ron Carter, the best jazz double bass player of all time who, at 82 years old, continues to walk the stage with the wisdom of an essential musician who holds the world record of being the double bassist with the most recordings in history. of jazz.

The former member of the Miles Davis quintet in the 60s with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Toni Williams, accumulates some 3000 recordings with music stars such as Billy Cobhan, McCoy Tyner, Stan Getz, West Montgomery, Don Ellis or Thelonious Monk, among many others, like the Brazilians Antonio Carlos Jobim and Rosa Passos with whom he immersed himself in the bossa nova sound to which he surrendered on his album "Jazz & Bossa".

With one of the most prolific careers in the world of jazz, Ron Carter, who is also an excellent cellist, came to jazz from classical music, which has never left acting and recording periodically with symphony orchestras.

As a composer he won a Grammy Award for the song "Call Sheet Blues" for the film Round Midnight, in 1998, although he had already won another in 1993 for the best instrumental jazz group.

Venerated by the new generations of bassists, Ron Carter holds five Doctorates Honoris Causa, the last by the prestigious Juilliard School, and defends the continuous training of the musician through masterclass and books with which he transmits his knowledge and experience with the double bass.

With nearly seven decades of career, Ron Carter has gone through the most prestigious labels such as Blue Norte, Concord or CTI, among others with whom he recorded a large part of his albums with other artists and as a leader with their own bands and groups that also He has cared throughout his career and with those who gives free rein to his creativity with legendary solos that we hope to hear in his return to Jazz San Javier after an absence of 10 years since he performed in the XII Festival.
