The Escan project receives a grant of 3,000 euros from la Caixa Social Work (24/03/2017)

The Escan project, to recover women victims of gender violence, with trained dogs, will count for another year with the support of laCaixa's Obra Social, which will contribute 3,000 euros to program maintenance costs, which is offered free of charge to The users.

The councilor of Social Services of San Javier, Estíbaliz Masegosa, the director of the Business Area of ​​La Caixa, Carlos Merelo and the coordinator of the Escan Project, Enrique Cruz presented today in the City Hall the subsidy to this new program, which since last year Is offered with institutional support.

Enrique Cruz, coordinator of the program, thanked the help that will be used to defray human resources costs, between trainers and the psychologist who supervises each case.

To date, a total of 21 women, mostly privately, have benefited from this tool for the recovery of victims of gender violence by working both the psychological aspect and personal security with the help of a dog.

The Solcan training center in San Javier, where the project emerged, is still training six new puppies to continue offering this program, which can only be accessed with a firm sentence for gender violence and a restraining order.

Once the service is requested, the psychologist of the project evaluates each case to ensure the success of the program, in which both the physical security that the dog can provide to the woman in her outings, as well as other issues related to fears, self-esteem And social relations, with the aim of achieving a comprehensive recovery.

Carlos Merelo praised the work of the Escan project, with which Social Work la Caixa collaborates for the second consecutive year "because it fits the social purpose of the Foundation", and expressed its desire to continue with this assistance.

The Councilor for Social Services, Estíbaliz Masegosa, also thanked La Caixa to continue collaborating with this program "which has proved to be a valuable tool for the recovery of women victims of gender violence."
