San Javier will celebrate International Women's Day with sports, theater, talks and recognitions in a program designed for all (01/03/2018)

Give visibility to women and take advantage to continue claiming equality in all areas, without excluding men, is the goal of the celebration of International Women's Day in San Javier as explained today Councilor for Women and Equality, Estíbaliz Masegosa during the presentation of the program of activities that on the occasion of the 8M has scheduled the equality policy commission belonging to the Municipal Council of Equality of San Javier.

The activities will begin on March 8 with a special program dedicated to Women in the municipal radio station which will be followed by the institutional event that will take place at 8:00 pm at the Parque Almansa Civic Center in San Javier with the award of the 8M Prize to Juana Fuentes, psychologist of the CAVI, Specialized Care Center for Women Victims of Violence, of San Javier.

The traditional coexistence meal that followed the award ceremony has been replaced this year by a wine tasting, tapas and coffee, to end the night.

The program, in which it is intended to include the whole society, will host an appointment of the children's activity "In your park or in mine" dedicated to Women's Day, in the renovated park of Los Ríos neighborhood, on Saturday 10 of March.

The mayor Estíbaliz Masegosa was accompanied during the presentation by representatives of the Fundación Secretariado Gitano and San Javier Team who collaborate in the organization of the III Women's Race that will be held on Sunday, March 11 at El Mirador.

The race that will have 5km of hiking, and 5 and 10km of race will start at 10am and registration can be done at www.lineadesalida.net.

The protest party will arrive on Thursday, March 15, with a talk on the wage gap affecting women in charge of the Local Development Agency technician, Juan de Dios González, in the Araceli Rubio room, in Santiago de la Ribera, at 8pm

There will also be room for the theater with "The doll house" on March 23 at the civic center "Prince of Asturias", Santiago de la Ribera.

The program of activities is completed with a boat trip to Grosa Island in April, with a date to be confirmed.

Councilor Estíbaliz Masegosa encouraged participation and pointed out the importance of involving all of society in this type of action because the demand for visibility and equality of women is an issue that affects everyone.
