The Mavericks, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Maceo Parker, Kurt Elling and Vonda Shepard lead the program of the XXI edition of the San Javier Jazz Festival (10/04/2018)

The Festival that will be held from June 30 to July 28, includes 12 nights of concerts in the Almansa Park and four free concerts in open spaces

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, the councilman of Culture, David Martínez, the director of the Institute for Cultural Industries and Arts, of the Region of Murcia, Marta López-Briones and the director of the International Jazz Festival of San Javier 2018, Alberto Nieto presented this morning at the Centro Párraga, Murcia, the concert program that includes names like The Mavericks, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea Akoustic Band, Maceo Parker, Kurt Elling, Kyle Eastwood, Vonda Shepard, Luis Salinas , Joao Bosco or Kenny Garret, among other great artists.

Festival director Alberto Nieto unveiled the program, which will start on June 30 with bassist Pepe Bao accompanied by his own group with which he will offer a fusion concert of jazz, flamenco and rock, followed by the American singer Vonda Shepard, who recorded an album with the concert that he offered years ago in the disappeared festival "Músicas del Alma", in San Javier, and which premieres at the Festival with a repertoire of jazz, R & B, rock and traditional American music in which there will be a memory to the series Ally MacBeal, in which he played music to the feelings of the protagonist.

Pat Metheny, one of the most admired jazz guitarists in the world, returns to San Javier with a new group and a twist to an unmistakable style reflected in his latest album "The Unity Sessions" on July 6.

French accordionist Ludovic Beier leads a production of the Jazz Festival of San Javier, with his Montmartre Quartet and violinist Pierre Blanchard as guest artist, on July 7, followed by the Bilbao band Travellin 'Brothers Little Band, one of the bands of the most respected and admired blues in Europe with her latest album recorded in Nashville "13th Avenue South", and three international artists as guests.

Kyle Eastwood, the bass player and composer, son of Clint Eastwood, premieres at Jazz San Javier where he will perform on July 25 with his quintet.

Argentine guitarist Luis Salinas, an old acquaintance of Jazz San Javier, will star on the night of July 27 with a double concert that will begin with his son Juan Salinas performing a traditional Argentine duo and ending with his quintet performing his own compositions.

The Jazz Festival of San Javier 2018 will be dismissed on June 30 with the presence of Chick Corea Akoustic Band, an acoustic trio formed by the great legend of the piano along with the prestigious double bassist John Patitucci and the spectacular drummer Dave Weckl, meeting that has been considered as the "musical event of summer".

The female vocal jazz with René Marie and the piano of Bruce Barth will put the last notes that same night at the Jazz Festival of San Javier 2018.

The Spanish Domisol Sisters & Sedajazz Swing Brothers, will take the vocal jazz of the 30s and 40s to the Plaza de España in San Javier on 4 July.

Mike Sánchez, a British rhythm and blues musician with Spanish roots, will perform on July 18 at the Barnuevo esplanade in Santiago de la Ribera, where the Bluesfalos will arrive on July 24.

La Manga del Mar Menor will host the concert of the Caribbean singer Tricia Evy, heiress of the great jazz vocalists, with a quartet of Spanish musicians and Roland Baker as guest artist on July 26.

The director of the Festival Alberto Nieto advanced that the prices of the installments and tickets, which will go on sale in two weeks, will remain affordable, as usual, with an average price per ticket of 15 euros.

The Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, highlighted the quality of the program presented today as well as the direct management modality that characterizes a festival "that we are proud of because it puts San Javier on the map, projecting with a quality mark not only San Javier but to the Region of Murcia ".
