The painter José Martínez Cánovas exhibits as a guest artist at Imagina San Javier 2018 (28/04/2018)

The band Murcia Atrezo put acoustic music last night at the inaugural party of Imagina 2018 held at the Museum of San Javier with the assistance of the artists selected in the current edition of the emerging art festival organized by the Department of Youth of San Javier, with the Murcian painter José Martínez Cánovas as guest artist.

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, the Councilor for Youth, Estíbaliz Masegosa and the artistic director of the Festival, Cristina Franco intervened to welcome the artists and the public that will be able to enjoy art in the next Sunday, April 29. open and closed public spaces of the municipality, vindicate young art and guarantee support for the festival that turns 15 years.

The Museum of San Javier hosts, among other interventions, a sample of the guest artist in this edition of the Festival, José Martínez Cánovas who was in charge of presenting his participation in Imagina 2018 with a set of graphite paintings, made in the last two years and belonging to three different exhibitions, in Shanghai, Rome and Spain united by a dream vision of the human figure and the portrait.

Imagina San Javier 2018 has deployed since last April 25 a total of 21 works in different parts of the municipality covering all artistic disciplines and signed mostly by artists from Murcia, along with others from Madrid, Barcelona and La Coruña.

A field of poppies in the middle of the Plaza de España, or two therapeutic giant hands that float in the Mar Menor are some of the works that the public will find on the street these days, in an art festival with an important social component, and of denunciation, which invites reflection.

The Barnuevo beach, in Santiago de la Ribera;

the Plaza de España, the Almansa Park, Garroferos Street, in San Javier;

the playground in Euro Roda, and the City Hall, the Usos Múltiples building on Avenida Aviación Española, the municipal library of San Javier and the Museum of San Javier, with several exhibitions, are the locations to follow in a visit to the Festival that will continue active until Sunday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m.

The closed locations will remain open today Saturday until 8:30 p.m.
