The students discover native plants (04/06/2013)

More than a hundred schools of 3 ° and 4 ° of Elementary participated this morning in the activity "Know your plants, take care" organized by the Department of Environment, within the program that will be held throughout the week Day World Environment.

The students were welcomed by the Councillor for the Environment, Celia Martinez gave them a pot of "daisy mar", a common plant in the area, for safekeeping at home.

In the park Almansa, in a garden with native plants, the technical Department of Environment showed them the different types of plants, their characteristics, and the care they require.

The program commemorating the World Environment Day began yesterday with a visit to the Casa del Agua in Santomera, and the opening of the photo exhibition "Under the Same Sun" by Lina Jimenez, in the library of San Javier.

On Wednesday World Environment Day is a scheduled visit Calblanque Regional Park, Mount of Ashes and Eagle Rock, for its fauna and flora.

In the afternoon, the activity moved to Santiago de la Ribera with the theatrical representation of "The True Story of Maruja Witch" and an animation workshop environment, at 18:00.

At 19:30 h., Also on the esplanade Barnuevo, will receive their awards photo contest "Santiago de la Ribera, its natural environment," in a ceremony which will also be displayed all the papers presented at the contest organized by the Environment Department to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Santiago de la Ribera, and read poems about the town.

The program held a meeting on Thursday with a market leading ecological open in Spain Square from 09:00 to 19:00 h.

The market will among other attractions a basic workshop and silk weaving other participatory workshop that will have to silkworms as the main protagonists.

There will also be stalls organic fruit and vegetables, air fresheners, jewelry and accessories, natural soaps and products made with recycled materials.

Inside the contribution of the Department of Environment to the 125th Anniversary of Santiago de la Ribera is framed also a conference on "Fishing Gear" in which two fishermen, one active, Francisco Lorenzo, and one retired, Jose Canovas Bolarín "Canovillas" will complete the history of fishing in the area.

The conference will be held at 20:00 h.

at the "Araceli Rubio" civic center "Prince of Asturias" in Santiago de la Ribera.
