Casalduero states that the PP does not defend our agriculture as it should to the European Union (08/05/2014)

The Deputy Secretary General and candidate PSRM Parliament Casalduero Isabel said during a visit to the company culture and packaging of fruits "The Dulze" El Mirador (San Javier), the People's Party "does not defend our agriculture should to the European Union ".

Casalduero, who congratulated the company "to be at the technological forefront as important to the economy of the region as the food industry", claimed investment in R + D + i for this sector "for the benefits that we can provide for the future. "

"The investment in technology not only increases the quality of the products, but also competitiveness and the conditions of workers. One aspect is the collaboration of the company with universities, to improve competitiveness in the EU and improve the odds market and create more and better jobs, "he said.

However, these investments right down, and also decrease with the right to rule in Europe the contribution of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which fell nearly 4 percent for the period 20014-2020.

"European subsidies are reduced, but also in Spain, Rajoy and the candidate Cañete, the Government has reduced its percentage contribution to the farming sector. Whereas until now the State contributed 50% of Development Funds Rural (and the Autonomous Communities the other 50%), now only provide 30% (gets EUR 238 million for other purposes), which means that the regions will now have to contribute 70%, "he added.

"We have more than reasonable doubt that the regional government contribution which corresponds, in the circumstances".

The Region, injured

Murcia also by the type of crops we have (fruits and vegetables) has been prejudiced by the CAP with respect to other Spanish regions that have large areas of cereals and olives.

There is another issue that, according Casalduero, not without importance, and is the definition that has made Europe what it is right or not is-a "active farmer", a figure that allows or not receive aid.

The result, in his opinion, favors big producers and seriously hurts small farmers, who are most of the Region of Murcia.

Young Agriculture, Technology and Ecology

Isabel Casalduero stressed the importance for the Socialists, which has more and more young people choose to engage in agriculture.

"That's why we are proud to have achieved in Europe that States have to spend 2 percent of their funds from the first pillar of the CAP (direct payments to farms) to facilitate generational change in the field."

"Another thing we've got is that the Socialists are initiated greening measures, a term that includes additional payments to farmers for hectares dedicated to organic farming, and go great with our citrus crops and fruit" Casalduero that during his visit to the company "Fruit The Dulze" highlighted the importance of technological innovation in the various processes of production and marketing, which the company said is a good example.

Remain "the garden of Europe"

Casalduero finally insisted that the agrifood sector is one of the few engines that pull our country out of the crisis "and not Valcarcel and Cerdá have defended in Europe."

"The food industry's support for the Socialists something to defend in Europe for its economic importance and therefore can and should assume in the future of more wealth for our region. If Murcia was once the garden of Europe we we will fight because now remain so in the future. "
