Social Services has an exhibition on Roma culture to the local library (18/05/2010)

Spreading the Roma culture and history, and breaking social stereotypes hanging over this community is the aim of the exhibition "Cultures for sharing.

Gypsies today ", which can be accessed at the library of San Javier until 28 May.

The sample of didactic, is part of the collaboration that the Department of Social Services has with FSG for the implementation of the Roma Development Programme of San Javier.

The exhibition features over fifty panels, which begins with the origins of the Roma people and their arrival in Spain through different aspects that characterize their culture and social customs, food, values, traditional professions and the arts.

Students from several high schools in town, "Mar Menor", "Ruiz de Alda" and "Sacred Heart", housewives' associations, wholesalers, and other local groups spend these days in the sample to which approach to the help of a guide that explains the content of the exhibition which also includes musical performances, interactive sections.

The activity, which has been developed in other parts of Spain through the FSG, including pre-teaching activities in the classroom for students who will visit the exhibition which is completed with a workshop of social dynamics in relation to content of the sample.
