The Estacio Bridge open five times a day until the award of service provided in a month when open every two hours (28/05/2010)

The bridge of El Estacio, La Manga del Mar Menor, open five times a day from June 1 at 8, 10 and 12 hours in the morning and 18 to 20 hours in the afternoon, municipal staff City of San Javier.

This will continue until the award for one year of operational service to a private bridge to be opened every two hours, matching the service provided since its construction.

The mayor of San Javier, Pepa Garcia explained that the adoption of this measure, which increases from 2 to 5 daily bridge openings is due to the increase of vessels that causes the high season and our determination not to disadvantage any sector involved .

Garcia pointed out that the specifications for the procurement of the service is approved by the Governing Board on 26 May, so that within approximately one month may be awarded to a private company which would guarantee the opening every two hours .

The award of the service will be for one year, during which time we will work to find a definitive solution to this issue through the indirect management of service by a legal entity "which must be represented all stakeholders both institutions and private" explained the mayor, Pepa Garcia maintains the position that the residents of San Javier "do not have to bear alone the high cost of surgical bridge."

In relation to the protest ship Saturday morning announced for the Association of Victims of the bridge of El Estacio the Mayor has said that "everybody is free to speak out, but in reality I do not think we could ask for more. We are trying by all the means to understand that opening a bridge between two seas for the passage of large vessels, not an expense to be borne exclusively the municipality of San Javier, and while we reached an agreement to that effect, we assume the operative bridge, extending from two to five starts with municipal services until a month ago was able to reopen every two hours through the award of service. I think it is an exercise of responsibility, which we assume with confidence that in that year moratorium will be offered a final solution. "
