Students from San Javier, Mazarrón, Alhama, Cieza and Molina de Segura are part of the Regional Prizes for Historical Research (06/06/2018)

The children Arturo Crespo, of the Sacred Heart School;

Juan Antonio Vázquez of the CEIP El Mirador;

and Álvaro Sánchez from CEIP Ntra. Sra de Loreto obtained the first, second and third prize respectively from the contest "We help Tadeo Jones, we investigate, learn and take care of our heritage", which awarded a prize to the girl Berta María Fu García, from CEIP El Recuerdo, during the awards ceremony that took place yesterday afternoon at the City Hall of San Javier.

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo presided over the awards ceremony that was attended by Francisco Chacón, director of the Foundation Center for Historical Studies and Local Research of the Region of Murcia;

Juan Hernández, director of the Chair of Local Studies Juan Torres Fontes;

Raquel Sánchez, professor of Didactics of Social Sciences at the UMU and Antonio Pérez-Crespo, of the Pérez Crespo Payá Foundation.

The contest, organized by the City of San Javier together with the Seneca Foundation, the Antonio Pérez-Crespo Foundation and the University of Murcia, encouraged the 6th grade children of the municipality of San Javier to choose an element of municipal cultural heritage for its analysis and research with a final participation of a hundred works.

The call was motivated by the celebration in San Javier of the last edition of the Regional Day of Local History, an event that also entails the celebration of the regional contest of Historical Research, with several modalities, aimed at students of ESO and Bachillerato of all the Region of Murcia.

Two students of the IES "Ruiz de Alda" of San Javier took the regoinales prizes of Historical Record, one of the modalities of the prize of Investigation, in category of Baccalaureate.

Alba Moreno with the story "At the end of the wave" won the First Prize and Special Prize of the jury, and Candela G. "Anichi" the second prize with "My grandmother Juana".

In the ESO category, the first prize went to Ángel Rosauro, 3rd year at the IES "Cañada de las Eras", and the second one to María Sánchez of the 4th year of ESO at the IES "Antonio Hellín", in Mazarrón.

The B1IH group from IES Francisco de Goya, from Molina de Segura, composed of 14 students, also received their awards for their work "Designing a route through the Molina de la Transición", which was the only one awarded in the Research Prize. Antonio Pérez-Crespo. "

The Historical Research Awards went to Alba Moreno, Cristina María Martínez and Isabel Ros, from the IES "Diego Tortosa", from Cieza in the ESO category with their work "Museo del Esparto", and in the baccalaureate category the IES students "Miguel Hernández ", by Alhama de Murcia, Cristina López and Constantino Abenza with" La guerra de independencia en Alhama de Murcia ".

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo congratulated the winners as well as their teachers and centers and recalled the importance of the past as a solid basis to face the present and the future of a people, so he stressed the importance of Local History "as the heritage of all".

In this regard, he recalled that San Javier will count in a period of one year with a rigorous volume in two volumes on the history of the municipality to this day that a group of expert historians elaborates through the agreement that on the occasion of the Regional Day of Local History signed the City of San Javier with the Foundation Center for Historical Studies and Local Research of the Region of Murcia.
