San Javier is preparing to receive more than 300,000 people during the weekend on the occasion of the International Air Festival (07/06/2018)

All the municipal services have been mobilized to guarantee the best possible development of the event that will be attended by King Felipe VI

San Javier is preparing to receive this weekend to more than 300,000 people who are expected to attend the events scheduled to mark the 75th Anniversary of the AGA that will begin on Saturday at 10am with an open day at the military site until 5pm

On Sunday, June 10, it is expected that there will be more public at the International Air Festival to be held on the Mar Menor from ten o'clock from 10 o'clock to 2:30 o'clock when the Acrobatic Eagle Patrol will act as hostess closing the exhibition to which King Felipe VI will also attend.

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo reported today on the mobility measures adopted in the municipality during a weekend in which about 500 troops from all the security and emergency bodies will participate.

Luengo reported that in San Javier have been enabled four large parking, which together with those enabled in San Pedro del Pinatar and Los Alcázares offer 33,333 parking spaces.

The car parks will have more than 30 shuttle buses that, with a frequency of 10 minutes, will transport the public to Santiago de la Ribera.

On Saturday, all buses will arrive at the Barnuevo esplanade, while on Sunday there will be different destinations to disperse the public along the beach.

Both parking and use of the buses will be free.

The car parks, which will be monitored, will have access from the exits of the AP7 motorway to the municipality of San Javier with signs and personnel that will direct the vehicles to the parking areas.

The South exit 784 Airport, will give access to the car park located behind the offices of the José Díaz mercantile, and the parking area of ​​the disco Maná, which has also been enabled for the occasion.

Exit 780 will give immediate access to the car park located next to San Javier cemetery and Los Urreas industrial estate, and exit 777 Dos Mares, to the closest car park to the beach located on the old Los Arcos helipad on Patrulla Águila Avenue.

The closure of the streets will affect Sandoval Avenue, Barnuevo esplanade, Coronel López Peña Street and the airport's road to Santiago de la Ribera, which will only have access to emergency vehicles and shuttle buses on Saturday from 08:30 to 20:00 approximately.

On Sunday the traffic will be closed again at the same time, adding to the traffic closure the area of ​​Paseo Colon that goes from Querubina Jiménez Street and the City of Air, which will be opened as the area clears, about 5pm.

The mayor José Miguel Luengo said that the municipality of San Javier has been used thoroughly to ensure the greatest comfort to the thousands of visitors that are expected these days and asked "patience and understanding to the inconveniences that may cause the massive influx of public" .

A total of 55 local police and 80 Civil Protection troops from San Javier will be operational during the weekend in which there will also be Civil Protection personnel from Los Alcázares, Cehegín, Valle de Ricote and Caravaca that will be added to the device of emergencies, as well as a group of volunteers from Banco del Tiempo de San Javier.

Luengo thanked the support received in the global security device of the Government Delegation and the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Autonomous Community, as well as the Civil Protection services of other municipalities.

The mayor recalled that next to the Open Day and the Air Festival, the public can also visit the Barnuevo House, a building declared of Cultural Interest, next to the esplanade of the same name, which will host an exhibition during the whole weekend about 75 years of the AGA, which opens this afternoon.

Luengo stressed the importance of aeronautical culture for the municipality that is preparing with a project that will concretize the commitment of the City Council for a theme that for 75 years marks the hallmarks of local identity.

During the two days of the weekend the website www.75aniversarioaga.es will offer detailed information and up-to-the-minute information on the free mobile application "75aniversarioaga" that can be downloaded, where there will be information about locations, and free parking spaces , among other practical details.
