The Department of the Environment invites bathers to recycle and breathe (26/07/2018)

The "Recycle and Breathe" campaign invites bathers of the beaches of Santiago de la Ribera and La Manga del Mar Menor to deposit the container of any product they are currently consuming in their corresponding container and take a deep breath afterwards, with the satisfaction of having done the right thing.

The campaign, carried out by the Department of Environment and Ecoembes, has two uniformed environmental educators who locate people who are using lightweight containers to remind them of the importance of recycling and the benefits for the environment and health .

The councilors of Environment, Antonio Martínez and Public Services, María Dolores Ruiz visited today Barnuevo beach, where the campaign that started at Castillicos beach and that will continue on August 9 at Mistral beach, La Manga;

on August 16 at Colón beach, in Santiago de la Ribera and on August 23 at Pedruchillo beach, in La Manga.

The Councilor for the Environment, Antonio Martínez stressed the importance of summer to make this type of environmental initiatives in areas of product consumption with light packaging, such as the beach environment to continue raising awareness among the public about the importance of recycling the waste we generate daily.

The mayor of Public Services, María Dolores Ruiz took the opportunity to announce an increase of 30 new containers for the selective collection of waste, 15 for paper and cardboard and 15 for light packaging, financed by Ecoembes.

With the new locations will try to respond to the demand of residents in this regard, said the mayor who also announced an increase in recycling deposits in public centers with 30 new boxes, 15 blue and 15 yellow.

María Dolores Ruiz also referred to the smooth operation of the Green Line service through which almost 7000 incidents have been reported so far this year, of which 86 percent have already been resolved.

The Councilor for Public Services encouraged the residents to continue using this direct channel of communication with the City Council, which is done through an application on the mobile phone to communicate any incidence on public services with immediate response.
