The image of the Santísima Soledad del Mar Menor, to which the first Holy Week Brotherhood created in Santiago de la Ribera is dedicated, was presented publicly last Sunday during the act of blessing of the carving that took place in the church of Santiago de la Ribera in an event attended by the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo who received, like the rest of the members, the corporate medal of the entity.

The Sevillian sculptor Alejandro Ugarte is the author of the carving whose visible parts have been made of cedar wood, and in which the blue eyes stand out, by the Mar Menor, with eyelashes of natural hair.

The image, of 1.70 meters high, will go out for the first time in procession on Good Friday of 2019, crossing the streets of Santiago de la Ribera under the canopy, in the Sevillian style, and followed by a body of penitents who will wear black with blank details.

Antonio Aibar presides over the Pro Cofradía whose board of directors, which José Alberto Rodríguez and María Dolores Guillén are part of, has worked intensely to shape an idea that emerged among a group of friends in order to provide the town with a procession of Semana Santa, nonexistent until now in the entire municipality of San Javier.

The Cofradía project, which has had an excellent popular reception, continues taking its steps to be released as such in the Holy Week of 2019.

The blessing of the image of Soledad del Mar Menor included a representation of the municipal corporation, as well as the colonel director of the AGA, Miguel Ivorra, together with the brothers and the public in general, who praised the beauty of the carving made by Alejandro Ugarte, also present at the event that included the participation of the San Javier Music Band.
