The livestock and cheese maker Llorema Madrid stars in the International Day of Rural Women in San Javier (17/10/2018)

The young Llorema Madrid, from El Mirador, has starred today in the day "Farmers and Livestock. We empower the rural environment" organized by the Department of Women and Equality on the occasion of the International Day of Rural Women.

With his presentation "Quesos de autor El Ruperto", Llorema Madrid has explained the origin and development of Quesería Ruperto, a family business, located in the municipality of San Javier, dedicated to the artisanal and ecological elaboration of cheeses of sheep author , which has won several national awards and has four types of cheese on the market.

Llorema Madrid, engineer specializing in Hydrology, who saw an opportunity in the family agricultural and livestock company to start a cheese dairy, trained with the best cheese masters in the country, to shape their own signature cheeses.

Llorema explained that his commitment to sheep's cheese has a strong ecological character controlling the entire process from the ecological planting of the forage with which he feeds his 3500 sheep to the manual processing of the cheeses with milk freshly milked free of any heat treatment .

The Councilor for Women and Equality, Estíbaliz Masegosa inaugurated together with María Dolores Martínez, responsible for Coag-Ir, Ceres, Agua y Tierra in the municipality, the day with which it is intended "to give visibility to the silent and essential work of women in the Rural environment".

Masegosa recalled the vindictive and also festive character of the day in which the women participants enjoyed a cheese tasting.

María Dolores Martínez, one of the first women farmers in the municipality in her own right, claimed the celebration of this type of conference "so that at least one day a year they talk about us."

Martínez highlighted the progress experienced by rural women with the example of Llorema Madrid "with a technical training that did not have women who for hundreds of years have worked in the field."

The councilman of Agriculture, Sergio Martinez closed the day in the food of brotherhood shared by the hundred women participants after a visit to the local company Semillero El Mirador.
