The library of San Javier wins a special prize of intergenerational coexistence with 6000 euros and another 1700 in books (31/10/2018)

The library of San Javier has won the Special Intergenerational Coexistence Award granted by the Banco de Santander Foundation, within the María Moliner Reading Animation Campaign, endowed with 6000 euros in cash, 1700 euros for the purchase of books and a batch of books of the Santander Group.

The evaluation committee of the awards has chosen the library of San Javier "for its project Disappear to appear and its extensive program of activities for the social integration of the elderly and for its support for generational integration with activities to promote reading developed among older people with children, young people and families, such as: Intergenerational Docuforum, Make sense of the story, Intergenerational Creative Writing Workshop, I'm going to read your house, and Digital Literacy Workshops. "

The jury also emphasizes that the library of San Javier has created "a cultural space for all, opening up to citizen participation and institutional collaboration and involving all the neighbors and local entities in the design of services and activities of the same ".

The Councilor for Culture, David Martinez pointed out the importance of this type of recognition "that comes to endorse the good work done by the entire team of San Javier libraries making the library a space of exchange and social cohesion around reading and culture. "

Martínez expressed his satisfaction for obtaining this Award and thanked the involvement of the library team as well as volunteers, users and entities such as the Elderly Center of San Javier and the Municipal School of Family that have contributed to the development of the award-winning activity

The special prize of intergenerational coexistence that the library of San Javier has just won and to which 300 libraries throughout Spain have opted, is granted this year for the first time sponsored by the Banco de Santander Foundation within the XIX Campaign of Reading Animation María Moliner convened by the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).

The library of San Javier won in 2013 the First Prize María Moliner, in whose call it has been winning minor prizes and recognitions from 2010 to the present.
