The PP demands the support of the Belenistic tradition in the Congress "as an artistic, cultural and identity value of our country" (21/12/2018)

The deputy spokesperson of the PP in the Lower House, Isabel Borrego, urges the Government of Sanchez to provide budget for the development of a program for national and international tourism promotion of cribs in Spain

Opposes the position of the PP that "defends this tradition" with the current directed to abandon it "alluding reasons that are not justified, since the nativity scene encompasses many nuances that take root in our country"

Requests the Executive of Spain to develop the 'Ruta de los Belenes', in collaboration with the Autonomous Communities, and where the Region of Murcia "concentrates a good part of the artistic industry of the sector"

Luengo: "This nativity scene receives thousands of visitors a year, is one of the largest in Europe and has 1,200 figures born in the workshops of the most prestigious artisans of the Murcia post Salzillesca"

The deputy spokesperson of the PP in the Congress of Deputies, Isabel Borrego, has demanded the Government of Pedro Sanchez, coinciding with the Christmas season and by presenting a Proposition no Law in parliament, the support of the Belenistic tradition "as artistic, cultural value and hallmark of our country ".

Isabel Borrego has defended today in the Plaza de España in San Javier where the traditional Christmas Bethlehem has been installed, and in the presence of the mayor of the municipality, José Miguel Luengo and national parliamentarians, Javier Ruano, Ascensión Carreño and María Dolores Bolarín, who "The PP sees it necessary for the Government of Spain to budget the development of a program for the national and international tourism promotion of the Nativity scenes in Spain and has cited the areas with greater profusion and quality, Andalusia, Murcia, Catalonia, Navarre and Madrid, and "where almost all the artistic industry in the sector that we must promote" is concentrated.

He has also asked, through this initiative, "to promote the candidacy of 'Belén' as Intangible Heritage of Humanity before UNESCO."

"The PP is a strong advocate of traditions in Spain," said the national parliamentarian, for which she has requested, in collaboration with the Autonomous Communities, the development of the "Route of the Nativity Scenes" "highlighting the work of this industrial sector, highlighting the artistic importance of the nativity scenes and also the involvement of the Civil Society that each year bets on this tradition developing it in all corners of Spain ".

ISABEL BORREGO CRITICIZES THAT "THERE IS A CURRENT DIRECTED TO ABANDON THIS HONDA TRADITION"

"Protect the tradition of Bethlehem as a symbol of the tolerance of our country and an exponent of religious freedom that reflects the Spanish Constitution is an objective and commitment for the PP," said Isabel Borrego who has released the statement of reasons contained in the NLP;

among them "the thousands of tourists who come to visit these true works of art".

"Now more than ever, it is time to reclaim our Christmas tradition, which left us our ancestors and we want to leave our children and grandchildren," he stressed.

In this regard has criticized that "despite this deep tradition there is a current directed to abandon this custom alluding reasons that are not justified by the enormous number of nuances that encompasses the roots of Bethlehem."

"Cities and towns -have regretted- that their popular nativity scenes served as a meeting place for citizens at Christmas, schools and other public buildings that have chosen to abandon this tradition" loaded with prejudice in favor of other customs that come from other places without roots "

To complete and identify the magnitude of this initiative, Isabel Borrego recalled that the Spanish Federation of Belenistas is formed by 77 associations in which more than 15,000 nativity scenes from all over Spain participate.

THE BETHLEHEM OF SAN JAVIER, ONE OF THE LARGEST IN EUROPE

For its part, the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, explained that "this nativity scene, which receives thousands of visitors a year, is one of the largest in Europe for its 520 square meters and more than 1,200 figures born in the workshops of the most prestigious artisans of the Murcia post Salzillesca ".

By way of description the mayor of the PP has said that "recreates the main mysteries of the story of the birth of Jesus fusing them with scenes of local life in the garden of Murcia and Campo de Cartagena", and stressed that "the most important work of Jesus Griñán is in this nativity scene ".
