Mayor José Miguel Luengo highlights the weight of organic crops in the municipality (22/01/2019)

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo today highlighted the value of organic farming in the municipality during a visit to the greenhouse of organic living aromatic plant that "El Dulze" produces and markets for four years in El Mirador.

"In El Mirador, we have been working on ecological issues for a long time, although there are those who still do not know about it and urge a change that has already taken place," said the mayor, who declared himself "proud of the competitive agriculture and environmental values ​​of our farmers who also promote the municipality all over the world. "

The mayor and the councilman of Agriculture, Sergio Martinez accompanied the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Angel del Amor during his visit to the facilities of "El Dulze", in the Mirador, on the occasion of his recent declaration as Organization of Producers "which will allow you to qualify for a series of grants for investments with different objectives, among which certain environmental measures must be included".

Miguel Ángel del Amor announced that during 2019 some 80 million euros of investment will be made available to the Producer Organizations of the Region from the European fund OP, of aid to organizations of fruit and vegetable producers.

José Carlos Gómez, executive director of "El Dulze" accompanied them on a visit to the large greenhouse where the ecological production of all types of aromatic plants is spoiled, which the company launched successfully four years ago, and which are marketed with the Ecological certification through large national and international distribution chains.

The visit concluded at the company's headquarters where its managers showed the daily management of their products through a robotic process "that allows a better selection, a longer product life and better quality for the consumer", explained José Carlos Gómez .

"El Dulze" has 480 workers and sells more than 100 million lettuce hearts.

Last year it invoiced more than 34 million euros, exporting to all of Europe and the Middle East although 50 percent of its production is concentrated in Spain.

The counselor, Miguel Ángel del Amor, highlighted innovation as a feature of this El Mirador company, which has a packaging plant of more than 7,000 square meters.

"It is an industry 4.0, pioneer in horticultural companies, which has the automation and robotization of all processes both in the field, as in the tasks of selection, preparation and bagging."
