The music conservatories of San Javier and Kokkola, Finland, join in the project "Ecosound" (28/01/2019)

Calling attention to the Mar Menor and the Baltic Sea is the final goal of the European project "Ecosound" in which young musicians from the Conservatory of San Javier, Murcia, and the city of Kokkola, Finland, who visited the City of San Javier where they have been received by the acting mayor, Teresa Foncuberta and the Councilor for Education, Catalina Pérez.

With the universal language of music, the participants in this project, which lasts two years, aim to promote awareness of the need to care for these two marine ecosystems that share environmental problems.

The project, promoted by the violin teacher of the Conservatory of San Javier, Rafael Kechabyan, has the municipal support and the General Directorate of Environment of the Region of Murcia.

The Finnish group composed of 18 young people of 17 years and two teachers, arrived yesterday in San Javier where they will stay until next February 10 with an intense musical program that will also leave time for cultural visits in the Region.

During their stay they will work with the musicians of the Conservatory of San Javier for the four concerts they have scheduled.

The auditorium of Cox, Alicante, will host the first of the concerts on Saturday, February 2.

Coinciding with the public gathering of the Romería de San Blas, on Sunday, February 3, they will offer another concert at 12 noon in the pine forest, next to the hermitage, in San Blas.

On February 6 they will offer a concert in Room B of the auditorium of Murcia and finally a chamber concert on February 8 in the building of Youth, San Javier.

The Finnish group arrived accompanied by the head of Academic Extension of the Conservatory, Manuel Rocamora and the director of the center Francisco Javier Tárraga, who have already traveled to Kokkola.

The students of the Conservatory of San Javier will return the visit to the city, located in the center west of Finland, in the province of Western Finland, from September 22 to October 5, 2019 and in February of 2020 the Finnish group will return with others young musicians who, like the present ones, study different instruments and songs.
