Students of the CEIP "Fulgencio Ruiz" visit the San Javier treatment plant (01/02/2019)

The acting mayor, Teresa Foncuberta and the councilman of Agriculture, Sergio Martinez accompanied today a group of students of the CEIP "Fulgencio Ruiz" during a visit to the purification station of the municipality of San Javier, with which a visit program is inaugurated launched by the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment to raise awareness among children and adults about the proper use of water and services.

The young students were attended by technical staff of the water treatment plant who, during a tour of the facilities, explained the operation of the station whose technology allows the reuse of one hundred percent of the incoming flow, such as irrigation water, reaching a total of 3.5 cubic hectometres intended for agriculture.

Foncuberta highlighted the importance of this type of visits.

"It is important that the neighbors know such an important work for the municipality as this and that they can see first-hand the efforts made by the Administration to take advantage of every drop of water and achieve its reuse in the best conditions."

The mayor, Sergio Martinez encouraged educational centers, associations and interested groups to join the initiative to arrange a visit and learn about the facilities and the technology that the plant is equipped with.

The reuse of water in the San Javier plant, which has managed to lower the conductivity thanks to an external work of renewing collectors in the evacuation network that runs along the Paseo Colón, even reaches the sludge that is reused as fertilizer.

The sanitation station of San Javier generates some 2.8 tons of sludge that is used in eight municipalities of the Region.
