The councilman of Tourism, Antonio Martinez and the second Deputy Mayor, Carlos Albaladejo have met in Madrid with the president of the Association of Diving Centers of the Region of Murcia, Ignacio Larrea to address the start of the project of a diving area in the surroundings of Isla Grosa driven by the City of San Javier, the Association of Diving Centers of the Region and the Nautical Station.
The meeting dealt with issues related to the technical work table, already defined and made up of representatives of the three administrations and representatives of the sector, and a meeting schedule was prepared to finalize the project that includes four zones: an underwater archaeological park, an underwater museum, another of wrecks, and an interpretation center on land that would include a permanent exhibition and space for other temporary, classrooms, a workshop-laboratory and a support service for divers and researchers.
The mayor of Tourism, Antonio Martinez highlighted "the goodness of this project as a socio-economic boost of La Manga Norte through diving tourism that would create synergies with other cultural, scientific or environmental areas."
Martinez also highlighted "the deseasonalizing power of diving tourism, aware of the great underwater archaeological value of the funds surrounding the island of Grosa"
