The City Council transferred to the Ministry its intention to request the concession of the spa Los Arcos for nautical use (19/02/2019)

The City of San Javier plans to initiate an application for administrative concession Los Arcos spa, whose current concession has expired, as reported by the councilman of Tourism, Antonio Martinez.

The municipal initiative, which would be complemented by other similar infrastructures in La Manga, where there is a pontoon project for nautical use that has been pending for two years before the concession resolution, has already been transferred to the general deputy director of the Maritime Public Domain- Terrestrial, Ainhoa Pérez by the councilman of Tourism Antonio Martinez and the mayor of the Treasury, Carlos Albaladejo, in a recent meeting held in the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, in Madrid.

The municipal representatives had requested the meeting to be interested in the resolution of the administrative concession of a temporary anchorage in Atalayón, in Santiago de la Ribera, whose file began in 2015 and which is in the absence of the final resolution.

Martinez explained that the Ministry committed to issue the aforementioned resolution within a month, which will allow the construction of what would be an ecological anchorage that would have 182 anchoring points for boats of eight meters in length.

Also, the councilors of Tourism and Finance raised the need for the Ministry to address the municipal request to address seven swaths of land of the former Maritime-Terrestrial Zone, in La Manga del Mar Menor, which adds about 57,000 square meters, which would be dedicated to free space systems or public green areas.

Antonio Martínez explained that by linking this request, the request for administrative concession of the Maritime-Terrestrial Public Domain was also addressed for the execution of sea promenades already included in the annex of the General Urban Plan that is pending final approval.

The City Council regrets the lack of budget of the Ministry for the recovery of Ensenada del Esparto and Pudrimel, in La Manga and proposes a joint solution

The municipal representatives took advantage of their visit to the Ministry for the Ecological Transition to meet with the deputy general director for the Protection of the Coast, Ángel Muñoz Cubillo, who demanded an urgent regeneration action on the beaches of Ensenada del Esparto and Pudrimel, in La Manga del Mar Minor, affected by loss of sand, especially since the storms of last November.

Likewise, they were interested in the tender for the study of the regeneration and stability project of the mentioned beaches that would avoid the repetition in time of this problem, and that was initiated by the previous Ministry team in 2017.

The councilman of Tourism, Antonio Martinez regretted that "the response of the Ministry is negative for lack of resources" and criticized "the abandonment by the central government of its powers on the beaches of La Manga."

Martinez recalled that the City sent months ago a technical memory valued, after the end of 2018 for the recovery of the beaches, "without getting any response."

Faced with this situation and "in order to give a solution to the problem" the City of San Javier has proposed to the Ministry a formula of collaboration through which the City would provide machinery and personnel necessary for the adaptation of the beaches while the sand would provide the Ministry that is now preparing to study the proposal, explained Martínez.

Regarding the recovery of the Veneziola salt mill cataloged as an Asset of Cultural Interest, the Ministry reported in the same meeting that it does not have the budget to attend the municipal request for its recovery, so it offered to authorize the corresponding administrative authorization so that the City Council proceed to the recovery works, informed the mayor of Tourism, Antonio Martínez.
