San Javier launches a Family Meeting Point of gender violence (06/06/2019)

The Community has a new Family Meeting Point (Pefviogen) for the care of victims of gender violence located in San Javier and which joins the existing ones in Lorca and Murcia.

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities acting, Adela Martínez-Cachá, recalled that "the Pefviogen is a service that was a national pioneer by specializing in mediation in families where there have been cases of violence against women", and assured that "they have become an essential element in the Victims Assistance Resource Network".

The place to start the new Family Encounter Point in San Javier has been ceded by the International Telephone Association of Hope, through an agreement signed with the Ministry.

In this sense, the counselor thanked the entity for its collaboration and recalled that the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities will also offer specialized training to telephone professionals of Hope to ensure assistance to women victims of gender violence.

Expansion of the Resources Network

Until now, in the Region of Murcia there were two family meeting points, one in Lorca and another in Murcia.

So far this year they have carried out 238 interventions with 130 people from 35 families.

In this neutral meeting space, supervised visits or deliveries and collections of minors are carried out under the supervision of social workers, psychologists or lawyers.

This guarantees the right of the child to continue maintaining the link with the parent who does not have custody, ensuring their safety and that of their mothers when there is, for example, a restraining order.

"With the inauguration of this new meeting point we expanded the Regional Resource Network for the attention to victims of gender violence, one of the measures contemplated in the Regional Pact," said the counselor, adding that "this network will be added to another one in Cartagena throughout this year ".

This year the Department of Family and Equal Opportunities earmarked 75,000 euros for the maintenance of the three meeting points.
