Mayor José Miguel Luengo today received the athlete Celestino Zapata, who during the last years has competed with the athletic and soccer team of Aidemar and who is currently active in the Mandarache Athletics Club.
Celestino, who combines his intense sporting activity with his work as a kitchen assistant at the Aidemar Day Center, received from the mayor a flag of San Javier that will accompany him in his next tests as the half marathon of Santa Pola on 19 from January.
At 41, Celestino said goodbye to 2019 with 23 marathons and long-distance races behind his back with the memory of the 34-kilometer Ricote Trail as the most complicated.
Until 2017, he combined his passion for the background race with football, being a member of the Murcian athletics team and also the soccer team with which he has participated in several FEDDI Indoor Soccer Championships (Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities ).
Celestino trains self-taught following the example of the great athletes and confesses to having as a reference Iván Hernández, athlete coach of the AD San ​​Javier Team and runner of the Mobel Automenor.
The mayor congratulated Celestino for his effort and improvement and wished him good luck for his new challenges.
