The festival of San Blas, which is celebrated on December 3, will fill the hermitage and the nearby pine forest with activity throughout the weekend (29/01/2020)

The festival of San Blas, celebrated next Monday, February 3, will leave an intense holiday weekend in the municipality of San Javier around the hermitage and the pine forest of the San Blas landscape, in Santiago de la Ribera.

The councilor of Festejos, Isidoro Miñano accompanied by Carmen Teruel and Charo Poveda, representatives of the festival commission today presented the program that will begin on Saturday, February 1 with the monthly appointment "In your park or mine", in the park located in front of the hermitage from 11: 00h, with children's theater and craft workshops.

Those who decide to spend the day in the pine forest can taste a giant tortilla in which 1200 kilos of potatoes and 600 eggs will be used with the echoes of the “FestiBlas Rock 20â€, which from 12: 00h brings together local bands and rock groups .

On Sunday, February 2, the hermitage will open its doors at 10:30 to receive an offering of flowers to the Saint.

The day will pass festive in the pine forest with the "Day of the crumbs" that includes a massive tasting and the "San Blas Dj Fest" that will animate the atmosphere from 1:00 p.m.

On Monday, February 3, a holiday in the municipality of San Javier, will begin with the pilgrimage of San Blas, a festival declared of Regional Tourist Interest, whose origins date back to the 16th century, to move the Saint from the Church of Santiago Apostle to his Hermitage in the place of San Blas, ported on the shoulders by the Brotherhood of Santiago and San Blas.

The rondalla and choir Santiago Apóstol will sing the huertana mass that will be celebrated upon the arrival of the Saint.

At the end of the religious service, the title of “Romero of the Year†will be given jointly to the marriage Patricio Hernández and Beatriz Gallego, owners of “La Avionetaâ€, one of the oldest shops in Santiago de la Ribera, in recognition of the work family of several generations in the promotion of pilgrimage of San Blas.

The day will continue with a giant paella at 2pm and the 6th San Blas candy launching contest with the mouth that will be held at 5pm before 6:30 pm the end of the party sounds.

The councilor, Isidoro Miñano and the representatives of the party commission made an invitation to participate in the Pilgrimage and enjoy this festival that attracts thousands of people every year and that in this edition, number 41, coincides with the weekend .

Miñano highlighted the familiar nature of this party that during the three days brings together groups of friends under the pine forest surrounded by the typical stalls where you can buy the candies of San Blas and the “sanblases†hanging mud.

A fair completes the leisure offer that will be displayed in the San Blas area during the weekend.
