The Department of Culture publishes the foundations of the IV National Competition of Amateur Theater "Francisco Rubio" (31/01/2020)

The Contest, which will select four companies to contest, will be held in five sessions, from May 8 to 17

The Councilor for Culture, David Martínez presented today at the City Council of San Javier the basis for participation in the National Competition of Amateur Theater "Francisco Rubio" to be held from May 8 to 17 in the theater of the center "Prince of Asturias", from Santiago de la Ribera.

David Martínez explained that of all the submitted works, four companies will be selected to represent their works on May 8, 9, 15, and 16.

The awards ceremony will take place on the 17th of the same month followed by a premiere of the San Javier Theater group as a guest.

A technical jury with representatives of the MurciaEscena Association, the Superior School of Dramatic Arts, the San Javier theater group, a theater director from the Region of Murcia and the councilor and director of the San Javier International Theater, Music and Dance Festival, David Martínez will choose the best work, prize endowed with 2000 euros, and best director with 800 euros.

The medal list includes trophies for the best actors and actresses protagonists and secondary.

The mayor of Culture encouraged amateur theater companies throughout Spain to consult the bases on the municipal website www.sanjavier.es and send their proposals before February 23 next to the Department of Culture, City of San Javier, 3 San Javier 30730 Murcia.

Martínez recalled that the organization will allocate 350 euros of aid to each participating company for travel.

David Martínez recalled that the contest, which celebrates its fourth edition, contributes to give visibility and support to the large number of amateur theater companies that exist throughout Spain and that contribute to the promotion of Culture through the performing arts.

Martínez said the contest also contributes to breaking the cultural seasonality in the municipality while paying tribute, with his name, "Francisco Rubio" to which he was founder of the International Festival of Theater, Music and Dance of San Javier more than 50 years.
