San Javier decides the closure of all municipal facilities and the suspension of all activities scheduled until March 31 (12/03/2020)

The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo has just published a Letter in which the public is informed of the temporary closure of municipal facilities such as the sports center, municipal libraries, centers for the Elderly and municipally owned nursery schools, Conservatory, civic centers and weekly markets throughout the municipality.

The measures, taken in line with those approved by the regional government and health authorities to combat the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19, will take effect from tomorrow, Friday, March 13, until at least March 31.

With that same term, all the sports, cultural, social and festive activities scheduled from the City Council are suspended, including the municipal Culture workshops and the Banco del Tiempo activity.

Likewise, citizens are asked to make an indispensable use of the face-to-face services of the local Administration during the next 15 days, using telematic, telephone or email services as far as possible, thus canceling the previous face-to-face agenda of citizen attention.

The list of telephone numbers of interest where you can directly contact the different services and councils of the City Council to make any query appears on the website of the City Council.

The measures adopted in the early afternoon exceed those announced hours before at a press conference by the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, who warned that in any case any approved measure may be modified and expanded, as appropriate, according to the evolution of the situation, always following the guidelines of the regional government and the health authorities, which in the early afternoon decreed the closure of educational centers starting next Monday.

Likewise, José Miguel Luengo appealed for "individual responsibility when dealing with any prohibition or indication of the competent authorities" to achieve greater effectiveness.

He also appealed to the understanding of citizens "in the face of a pandemic that forces all of us to change our lifestyle."

The mayor, who highlighted the high number of second-home homes in the municipality, recalled that "the authorities' recommendation to stay at home, avoid displacement and avoid concentrations does not mean going on vacation" and appealed to all those people that they are already coming to the municipality from outside the Region, especially from transmission centers such as Madrid, so that they follow the recommendations of the health authorities in order not to contribute to the spread of the virus and maintain a quarantine of 15 days.
