The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the "Safe Trade Plan", has carried out the operation "FIELDS", an investigation aimed at solving numerous robberies in shops in La Manga del Mar Menor, which has resulted in the identification , location and arrest of a couple of experienced criminals as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of robbery with force in shops (6), vehicles (3) and homes (1).

The investigation began last February, when the Benemérita became aware of the commission of a robbery in an uninhabited house in La Manga del Mar Menor, municipality of San Javier.

The property, used as a second residence, had been closed for several months and it was when its owners went to verify its condition, when the theft was detected.

Civil guards specialized in Prevention of Citizen Security collected all the indications through the ocular inspection of the property and established a first line of investigation focused on verifying the movement of people from other towns to La Manga and, on the other hand, identifying possible suspects settled in the area.

As the investigation progressed, the Benemérita became aware of another series of criminal acts, committed in the vicinity, that had a similar pattern with the first robbery.

In these other cases, the targets were commercial establishments and even vehicles parked on public roads.

The Civil Guard inspected each of the assaulted premises and collected the corresponding vestiges.

It also established a series of discreet surveillance devices in the area where they had been committed, with the aim of reinforcing citizen security, preventing the commission of other crimes and identifying suspects.

In this way, the investigators identified a couple of known criminals, a neighbor of Cartagena, who lived intermittently in an apartment in La Manga del Mar Menor-San Javier, who were suspected of being related to the material authorship of the robberies. .

The Civil Guard studied the different robberies: modus operandi, dates and times in which they were committed and the movements of the suspects;

and concluded that the nine crimes cleared up coincided with the periods of time in which this couple remained in the La Manga apartment, which gave strength to the hypothesis put forward by the investigators.

Once the necessary indications were obtained, the Civil Guard has located and arrested a man and a woman, aged 40 and 43, of Spanish nationality and residents of Cartagena as alleged perpetrators of at least a dozen crimes of robbery with force .

According to the investigation, the now detainees were traveling from Cartagena to spend short periods of time in an apartment located in La Manga del Mar Menor-San Javier, where they were seen consuming and alternating in entertainment venues in the area.

From this second residence it was from where they began their criminal tasks, for this they selected the houses or establishments that they accessed after violating doors or windows to steal televisions, clothing, footwear, alcoholic beverages, lottery tickets and tobacco, among others.

They also took advantage of their travels to steal inside vehicles.

Those arrested and the proceedings investigated have been placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court of San Javier (Murcia).
