The investigation is still open |

It is estimated that, for about two years, it sold, through a well-known social network, sportswear of prestigious brands to about 2,500 customers from all over Spain.

The products offered did not coincide with those that reached the hands of consumers

He was located when he was driving in a vehicle with 80 sports garments of dubious origin, so they were intervened

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed an investigation, which began in San Javier at the end of last year, to clarify a series of scams in the sale of sports products online, which has resulted in the identification, location and investigation of a young man who is credited with the alleged authorship of nearly thirty crimes of continued fraud.

He was intercepted aboard a vehicle where he was carrying 80 sports garments of dubious origin, for which they were intervened.

The investigation began in December of last year, when several complaints were filed with the Civil Guard in which residents of San Javier claimed to have been victims of a scam.

According to their stories, they had purchased different sports products through a well-known social network.

The private profile in which the garments were advertised housed a catalog of clothing and sports shoes from well-known brands at prices well below market prices.

Customers, after contacting the alleged seller via WhatsApp and placing the order, received the products at their addresses and cash on delivery.

The surprise came when they found that they did not correspond to those who had paid, either because they were of a lower quality brand, of an incorrect size or of a different format from the one requested.

In the framework of the investigations that the Civil Guard carries out for the detection and eradication of telematic crimes and in line with these first complaints, the agents opened an investigation that allowed them to discover that, what a priori was being treated as a series of minor crimes by the low amount of the assets acquired had been transformed into the investigation of a criminal network that, on a continuous basis, would have defrauded numerous people scattered throughout the national territory.

The Benemérita found out that these crimes had been committed, for two years, with the same modus operandi from the aforementioned profile on social networks, so they informed the victims of their rights as consumers, which gave rise to about thirty reports.

The alleged scams ranged from 40 to 120 euros per purchase, which carried out systematically could have generated the alleged scammer huge profits.

After several months of investigation, the Civil Guard has identified the main person responsible for fraudulent online sales, a young man on whom the surveillance focused until, recently, he was intercepted when he was driving through the municipality of San Javier aboard a vehicle.

The tourism exam was concluded with the intervention of 80 sports garments of dubious origin, supposedly destined for their illegal online trade.

The young man, 24 years old and a Spanish national, has been instructed as an alleged perpetrator of a continued crime of fraud.

In addition, the alleged authorship of a crime against road safety is attributed to him as he lacks points on his driving license.

The person investigated, the clothes intervened and the proceedings investigated have been made available to the Court of Instruction on duty in San Javier (Murcia).

The Civil Guard estimates that these complaints can be increased by learning of the possible existence of nearly 2,500 cases of defrauded consumers throughout the national geography, so the investigation is still open.
