The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo today has denied certain hoaxes about the massive arrival of tourists to the municipality, as proven by the numerous controls carried out by the Local Police and the Civil Guard, both in the Santiago de la Ribera area and in La Manga del Mar Menor.
However, he has admitted that in the face of the Easter bridge movements could be increased, so it is also planned to increase controls in coordination with the Government Delegation on fast roads such as motorways and expressways.
The mayor of San Javier added in this regard that the Government Delegate confirmed the reinforcement of the controls facing the bridge with more Civil Guard and Army agents.
Luengo reported that the Local Police has also been reinforced since the last days to carry out these controls, which try to avoid, above all, the arrival of tourists to their second homes.

The mayor of San Javier also reported on the situation in the four residences for the elderly in the municipality where some 300 people live between residents and workers these days, ensuring that after having contacted all of them this morning, there is no case of contagion .
Luengo recalled that the good evolution of the figures in the reduction of infections in the Region and specifically in the Health Area VIII, which includes San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcázares and Torre Pacheco, should not lead to relaxation and He encouraged the neighbors to continue taking precautionary measures, such as wearing a mask whenever you go out on the street.
