The municipal Food Bank receives its first donation from companies and charitable collections of sports associations (06/05/2020)

| The Bank, located in a premises assigned to the City Council, starts with non-perishable food with a value of more than 10,000 euros that will be distributed through of Cáritas, Red Cross and Niñito Jesús Association | The councilor for Social Rights, Estíbaliz Masegosa, accompanied by representatives of Cáritas, the Red Cross, and the Niñito Jesús association, received today the first donations received by the municipal Food Bank that will manage the Social Services Center in collaboration with the aforementioned charitable associations of the municipality. Donations, from various companies and collections promoted by sports associations in the municipality, exceed 10,000 euros, which have initially provided the Food Bank with non-perishable products such as cans of tomato, rice, pasta, milk and oil, among others. The management of the Food Bank, located in a place freely donated by an individual to the City of San Javier, falls to the Social Services Center that will distribute donations according to the demand of the three associations with which the City already collaborated and which have with a long experience in the distribution of food among vulnerable families in the municipality. The mayor, Estíbaliz Masegosa recalled that the municipal Food Bank "was born driven by the solidarity shown by companies and entities of the municipality" while noting that its main objective is "to reinforce attention in direct aid to families who have been seen affected by the economic crisis derived from the pandemic.

" The Social Services Center has met the food demand of a total 350 families since the beginning of the health crisis until April 30, Estíbaliz Masegosa reported, noting the increase experienced in recent weeks in the demand for this service by families that they have drastically reduced their income due to losing their jobs or due to the momentary lack of collection of benefits. Masegosa thanked the companies and entities that have mobilized to make donations to the Food Bank and encouraged the rest to collaborate with this solidarity initiative "with which we can all help those who are most suffering the economic consequences of the health crisis" .

The councilor for Social Rights also thanked the work carried out as always by both Cáritas San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera, the Red Cross and "Niñito Jesús" and recalled the telephones where this service can be requested, 968 19 07 82 and where Those companies, entities or individuals who want to make donations can be contacted at 672 331 620.
