| The counselor Antonio Luengo and the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo visited the works today, which have involved an investment of 611,244 euros | The Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, accompanied today the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment, Antonio Luengo on a visit to check the status of the works of the rainwater collector in the Los Pescadores neighborhood, in Santiago.

de la Ribera, whose completion is scheduled for June 15, as announced by the director, Antonio Luengo. The works, which have involved an investment of 611,244 euros, consist of laying 851 meters of pipe that will conduct the rainwater that affects the Los Pescadores neighborhood until it connects with the existing network at the intersection of the Cabo de Calle streets.

Palos and Cabo Huertas, with two rainwater pipes 2.20 meters high.

The scuppers and 130 meters of rainwater collection grids that the project collects along the streets of Cabo de Salou, Marina Española and Cabo de Palos will be connected to this collector.

The works include 24 manholes and the replacement of existing services such as the paving of the affected streets that will remain at the same height as they currently are. The counselor, Antonio Luengo recalled that with this infrastructure, the regional government responds to an old demand of the Mayor of San Javier and pointed out the double aspect of the project "which, in addition to protecting the population from floods, also helps the recovery of the Sea Minor avoiding sedimentation and that the water traps that circulate through the streets end up in the Mar Menor ".

Luengo took the opportunity to apologize to the neighbors for the inconvenience that the works may have caused them. The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, celebrated the prompt completion of the rainwater channeling works in the Los Pescadores neighborhood "which, unfinished, during the last episode of torrential rains, we already saw how they would be very useful for the neighbors".

José Miguel Luengo pointed out that this collector is part of a more ambitious plan that includes other collectors in the northern area such as the Los Ríos neighborhood and IES Mar Menor areas.

Luengo also highlighted the effect that the rainwater conduction works have on the Mar Menor, avoiding minimizing the arrival of the first storm drains to the lagoon that will be pumped to the municipal treatment plant, from the storm tank located next to to AGA.The mayor of San Javier promised the collaboration of the City Council with the regional government to continue implementing this type of infrastructure "designed for the protection of neighbors" and thanked "the commitment to San Javier and the will of the Autonomous Community of the Region de Murcia to continue investing in what is truly important.
