Luengo reported that the Autonomous Community is already working, through the General Directorate of the Natural Environment, on the demarcation of the sidewalk "to generate a large open-air canal that connects Alto del Villar and Santiago de la Ribera protecting from floods to the neighborhoods in the area and also the Mar Menor.

" The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, accompanied today the director general of Roads, José Antonio Fernández Lladó on his visit to San Javier to check the completion of the works of the new pedestrian communication between Pozo Aledo and San Javier, which is already operational , and the solution to the drainage of the area.

The director general of Roads explained that the regional government has invested about 370,000 euros in the works that consist of the construction of 450 meters of sidewalk, at least 2 meters wide and an underpass under the access branch to the AP- 7 of 5 meters wide, with a safety railing and led lighting throughout the journey.The route includes a passage over the storm water drainage trough, for which water passages have also been opened under the branches and Balsicas avenue from where it is planned to continue the channel to the Vereda del Vinco. José Miguel Luengo, who was accompanied by the pedáneo mayor of Pozo Aledo, José Davo and the councilor for Public Services, María Dolores Ruiz, thanked the regional government for carrying out the works "that respond to a historical demand for a safe passage between the two populations.

" Luengo pointed out that "the best possible step has been built with the technical conditions offered by the land" and stressed that the action has gone further, with a complementary work that solves another important problem in the area, through a new system of drainage of rainwater, so, he concluded, "we can say that today is an important day for Pozo Aledo and for the municipality of San Javier".
