The "Safe Tourism" flag flies on the beaches of San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar (19/08/2020)

The Minister of Tourism Cristina Sánchez and Mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo starred in the Mistral beach, in La Manga, in the symbolic raising of the badge that has also been obtained by municipal tourism offices and companies in the sector The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo and the Minister of Tourism, Cristina Sánchez, raised this morning, symbolically, the flag that certifies safety for users against COVID-19, on the Mistral beach, in La Manga del Mar Menor, one of the 14 beaches in the municipality of San Javier that together with the 6 in San Pedro del Pinatar have obtained the "Safe Tourism Certified" seal granted by the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality (ICTE). The raising of the flag, which certifies the implementation of a security protocol against the virus after passing an external audit, was attended by the Councilor for Tourism of San Javier, Antonio Martínez, the Councilor for Tourism of San Pedro del Pinatar, Silvia Egea, the general director of Tourist Competitiveness and Quality, Esther Tenza and the presidents of the Murcia Region Tourism Board, María del Mar Egea who highlighted the fact that "Administration and businessmen row in the same direction to leave together this complicated situation.

" Offering confidence to national and international tourists about safety on the beaches against the Coronavirus is the main objective of this certification, said the mayor, José Miguel Luengo, who recalled that the Beach Management Body of the San Javier City Council "began to work from the first moment of the hand of the Secretary of State for Tourism and the Autonomous Community to provide greater security to tourism this summer ". Luengo recalled that "now more than ever it was necessary to value safety as one of the attractions of our beaches" and highlighted "the great effort that companies in the tourism sector are also making in this regard, which we have to support in a so delicate moment ". The "Safe Tourismo" seal is also exhibited this summer by municipal tourism offices, after implementing a protocol of measures audited by an independent company.

Before raising the flag, Minister Cristina Sánchez and Mayor José Miguel Luengo delivered the "Safe Tourism" certificate to the head of the company Mar Menor Ferry, who, like after concessionary companies of beach services, joined this initiative to implement a rigorous security system. The Minister of Tourism, Cristina Sánchez highlighted the importance of these certifications in the Tourism offices "which is the first place where the visitor arrives" and after pointing out the importance of its national recognition, she announced that "the Region of Murcia will continue working on the obtaining more certifications that endorse the work that is being carried out to keep us as a safe destination ".

The counselor highlighted the "effort and work" developed by the municipalities of San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar to increase security measures on their beaches.
