The Councilor for Sports of San Javier, Sergio Martínez today highlighted the benefits of the Mar Menor as a regatta field during the presentation of the Spanish Catamaran Championship that will be held from September 24 to 27 in La Manga del Mar Menor.
The councilor who was accompanied by the pedo mayor of La Manga, José Guerrero, expressed the support of the San Javier City Council for the Championship and any event that contributes to the promotion of the Mar Menor and nautical sports Next weekend, the Catamaran Championship will bring together about the 100 best sailors of this modality in Spain, belonging to the regional teams from all over Spain.
Sergio Martínez highlighted the presence that the Real Club de Regatas de Santiago de la Ribera will have through two of its sailors, Alejandro Barnuevo and Adolfo Virgili as members of the regional team. The presentation took place at the Roc Doblemar hotel in La Magna del Mar Menor, venue of the Championship, organized by the Sailing Federation of the Region of Murcia.
The event was attended by the general director of Sports, Fran Sánchez, the director of the Sailing Federation, Arturo García and Inocencia García, director of the Roc Doblemar hotel that repeats as a nautical venue, after the Laser Radial Championship held last year . The Championship will be held from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 in the double classes F18, Interseries and Hobie Cat 16, as well as in the individual Class A, through 9 events, with a preliminary qualifying series and a final.
The regatta will be held under strict security measures in accordance with the Covid-19 Prevention protocol of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, as well as the new recommendations established by the Higher Sports Council and regional measures.
