The PSOE and the merchants propose to the City of San Javier two possible locations for the weekly market (30/09/2020)

The socialist councilor Marisa Bleda had asked in the last three months that the government team provide a consensual solution, to install the market in a central location, respecting COVID19 security measures, while the Almansa Park remodeling works last. Since the State of Alarm declined, the PSOE and the vendors in the markets of San Javier and Santiago de la Ribera asked the San Javier City Council for solutions so that all these professionals could carry out their work with all the security guarantees for customers before the COVID 19, the municipal government having proposed solutions that did not convince when dividing the sales areas. From that moment, up to three times the socialist councilor Marisa Bleda requested in the municipal plenary session that the demands of these professionals be met, having the foresight that they would allow them to continue selling if the health situation became complicated, and before the imminent start of remodeling works of the Almansa Park thanks to the European funds that the Government of Spain transferred to the San Javier City Council. After these requests, yesterday Bleda and the representatives of the vendors met with the Councilor for Markets, Héctor Verdú, to raise the need for the new provisional location of the market not to be on the outskirts of the urban area but on streets centrally located "since otherwise many of the buyers would not be able to access this service". On Calle Neptuno or between Plaza de Constelación and the municipal library In this sense, once the vendors showed their disagreement with the proposal initially raised by the municipal government, the PSOE councilor proposed to use Neptuno Street between Jupiter and Los Migalos streets.

In this way, access controls could be installed at these two points on the street and a straight route could be drawn.

This proposal was supported by the vendors, who also proposed the streets between Plaza Constelación and the municipal library as a location, which obtained the support of the Socialist councilor. Marisa Bleda has shown her satisfaction because "the councilor has been willing to study these two locations to opt for one of them if the technical reports support them and there is no inconvenience on the part of the residents of the area." Finally, as regards the Santiago de la Ribera market, it was agreed to maintain its location, understanding that during the winter months the number of people attending it is reduced.
