| The new location of the closing wall of the air base will generate wider roads and more parking spaces, while various streets will also be prepared along the seafront | Javier Celdrán visits San Javier and analyzes with the mayor, José Miguel Luengo, these actions included in the 2020-2021 Works and Services Plan of the Ministry of the Presidency and Finance The Ministry of the Presidency and Finance and the San Javier City Council have allocated 591,000 euros to two improvement projects in the district of Santiago de la Ribera, specifically in the vicinity of the Air Base and in various streets near the promenade.

These initiatives, which are included in the Community's 2020-2021 Works and Services Plan, have funding of 421,000 euros from the Ministry, while the Consistory contributes 170,000 euros. The Minister of the Presidency and Finance, Javier Celdrán, and the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, detailed these actions today in Santiago de la Ribera.

The City Council recently received the funds corresponding to the first annuity, and the tender will soon begin. The first of the projects is the one with the largest total endowment, with 389,000 euros, and consists of the demolition of the current closing wall of the air base next to Maestre street, for its subsequent reconstruction in a new location.

In this way, larger sidewalks will be achieved, as well as wider roads for the circulation of vehicles and the generation of new parking spaces. This action includes the demolition of the old Air Base pharmacy, clearing of different areas that are full of vegetation, execution of the new sidewalks, paving, renovation of horizontal and vertical signage, and replacement of the public lighting network.

. For its part, the second project is financed with 202,000 euros, and will focus on the paving of Calle Cánovas del Castillo in Santiago de la Ribera.

Various roads will also be prepared in the section between Cánovas del Castillo Street and Paseo Colón, with new sidewalks, curbs, pavements and the improvement of the telecommunications network in the area. Javier Celdrán stressed that "these actions have been identified as necessary by the San Javier City Council itself, and now they receive the necessary funding to respond to them.

Despite the complicated economic scenario generated by the pandemic, it is important to continue betting on this type of investment in our municipalities, because they are translated into an improvement in the services provided to citizens on a day-to-day basis.

" The counselor also recalled that "the Works and Services Plan, like the District Plan in municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, is an important engine that generates a drag effect on companies and auxiliary sectors at the local level in addition to creating jobs ". Actions in the rest of the municipalities The Community Works and Services Plan 2020-2021 is endowed with 15.2 million euros, to implement 103 improvement actions in the 41 municipalities with less than 50,000 inhabitants in the Region of Murcia.

These improvements result in the services provided to citizens on a day-to-day basis, and generate economic activity and new jobs at the local level. Some of the proximity works included in this type of project are the paving of streets, improvements in lighting, new sewage networks, new waste collection systems and the construction and conditioning of parks, gardens or social centers.

These projects are developed by the Ministry through the General Directorate of Local Administration.
