| The works financed by the CCAA and the City Council will allow the AGA wall to be set back on Maestre street to improve road safety and other improvements in Cánovas del Castillo street | The Minister of the Presidency, Javier Celdrán visited San Javier today to present, together with the mayor, José Miguel Luengo, the 2020-2021 Works and Services Plan for San Javier, which includes two improvement works in Santiago de la Ribera for a value of 591,000 euros.
They will finance with a contribution from the regional government of 421,000 euros and the municipal contribution of the remaining 171,000. The mayor of San Javier José Miguel Luengo pointed out that these are two works of great public utility and in high demand in Santiago de la Ribera, such as the setback of the wall of the General Air Academy in the section of Calle Maestre where there is a narrowing that hinders road safety.
The work, with a budget of 388,517.72 euros, will consist of the demolition of 200 meters of the wall, between Muñoz and Marín streets, and its setback of 7 meters, including the demolition of the old pharmacy of the Air Base.
With this work, larger sidewalks will be adapted, and a 3.5-meter road, as well as the generation of 40 new parking spaces. Luengo pointed out that this project, for which it has been necessary to expropriate 1600 meters from Defense with the agreement of the two parties, is able to improve road safety, expand parking lots and eliminate the pressure with which the water drops in case of heavy rains by the strangulation of the street.
The colonel director of the AGA, Rubén de la Chica, who attended the presentation that was held in the area of ??action together with the AGA, pointed out that with these works "we all win because even if it is an expropriation of Defense, there is an improvement in road safety that also affects the daily traffic generated by the Academy itself ". The other work foreseen in the San Javier Works and Services Plan refers to the improvement and accessibility of Cánovas del Castillo street, parallel to Paseo Colón, in the section that runs from Federico Guirao street and Montesinos street.
The works, with a budget of 202,411 euros, will consist of the renewal of the telecommunications network and public lighting pipes, the construction of new 1.8-meter-wide sidewalks with hydraulic tiles and paving the road.
The project includes the pedestrianization of Manresa, Meseguer and Ntra.
