San Javier launches two programs aimed at women in vulnerable situations (08/10/2020)

| The councils of Social Rights and Women and Equality collaborate with the SEMUV program of the Telephone of Hope and the project "Empoderarte", of the General Directorate of Women and Diversity of Gender and the General Directorate of Consumption and Crafts | The SEMUV program, from the Hope Phone and the Empoderarte project, from the General Directorate of Women and Diversity and the General Directorate of Crafts, will begin their activity in the next few days in San Javier aimed at women in the municipality in vulnerable situations.

The two projects, free of charge, are in line with the Pact against Gender Violence and aim to improve the emotional health of women, in the case of the Telephone of Hope, while the "Empoderarte" project aims to serve as therapy and promote job placement through crafts. The councilors for Social Rights, Estíbaliz Masegosa and for Women and Equal Opportunities, Ana Belén Martínez presented this morning the two projects with which the San Javier City Council collaborates, accompanied by the president of the Telephone of Hope, María Guerrero and its director technician, Antonio Rubio, who showed their satisfaction at resuming face-to-face activity at their headquarters on Archena Street, San Javier.

A total of 13 women, derived from the Department of Social and Women's Rights, will begin the Telephone of Hope program on October 13. The program consists of four workshops on strengthening self-esteem, positive thinking, emotional intelligence and on how to overcome affective dependence.

Each workshop will consist of five sessions and will be taught in groups on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m.

to 7:00 p.m.

Antonio Rubio explained that the workshops in which "a space of freedom and maximum confidentiality will be created are aimed at helping women to rearm themselves emotionally, mentally and physically." Councilor Ana Belén Martínez presented the "Empower you" project that is developed through a craft workshop that begins next Saturday, October 10 in the painting room of the Municipal Museum, coordinated by the Department of Women and Equal Opportunities and the CAVI-San Javier-Mar Menor and organized by the General Directorates of Women and Gender Diversity and Consumption and Crafts.

The intention of the project and the workshop that the artist Andrea Lopardo will give in San Javier, is to offer an alternative therapy to women victims of gender violence and promote creativity and labor insertion in addition to giving visibility to the artisan trade of the Murcia region.
