San Javier becomes the first turístico''municipio Region (26/02/2016)

The region achieved in 2015 a new record of foreign tourist arrivals with an increase of 7.1 percent and consolidates rise 30 percent in 2014

San Javier has become the first town in the region with the distinctive 'tourist town', an initiative launched by the Community in the regional pact for tourism drives with municipalities.

The Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment, Juan Hernandez, signed with the mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, the agreement by which this distinctive sign of prestige to the municipality, which is committed to working to increase the quality of granted services offered to visitors in all its aspects, such as infrastructure, innovation, human capital, promotion and environmental conservation.

Meanwhile, municipalities undertake to carry out actions that favor the competitiveness of the sector, such as the reduction of certain municipal taxes, or a code of conduct respecting the environment, including actions such as beautifying gardens or cleaning beaches.

It also involves supporting investments, incentives and financial resources as well as the implementation of specific measures to promote stable and quality employment, in order to enhance the value of existing human capital and quality that lends itself to tourists.

It also includes measures to promote innovation in tourism, improving infrastructure, while special care in the conservation and maintenance of all the monumental landscape and environment.

In addition, the council is committed to the dissemination of tourism and cultural values ​​schools with specific programs to the main monumental cultural and scenic attractions of town visitors.

These measures seek to increase among citizens a sense of belonging and identity to a community and civil society striving for the same goals make tourism the leading sector of the economy and job creation.

Specific measures in San Javier

As 'tourist town' the municipality of San Javier, within the municipal plan for boosting trade, include tax credits for tourism businesses to open throughout the year.

New record of international tourists

On the other hand, the Region of Murcia last year received 862,295 international tourists, an increase of 7.1 percent compared to 2014 and involves grow more than two points over the national average, which was 4.9 percent, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism.
